Whenever I pop into Layla Bakery, just a minute's walk from Golborne Road near Portobello market, I'm immediately wrapped up in its airy Brooklyn-esque ambiance. The place is bathed in light, streaming in from floor-to-ceiling windows, with a welcoming array of trestle tables set up right outside. Inside, there’s always a buzz in the open kitchen where the friendly team of young bakers whips up irresistibly crisp croissants, spice-laden babka, and mouthwatering cheese toasties. It’s a spot where the baked goods are so good, they often sell out before lunchtime rolls around—I recommend getting there early!
